Hereditary Disease Foundation – Spring 2012 Issue 17

Letter from the President
January 20, 2012
Dearest friends and family,
Last night’s Broadway performance of “Relatively Speaking,” followed by a sumptuous meal at Barbetta, knocked our socks off!!! Many, many thanks to all of you for making it such a smashing success!!!
We are delighted to thank Elaine May for writing such a spectacular play! And thank you particularly to Elaine and Julian Schlossberg, the play’s producer, for providing the tickets.
This special event was astonishingly successful, raising over one quarter of
a million dollars – $285,693!!!
Elaine May, in her remarks last night, said all of us are at risk for genetic diseases, and diseases of the brain are the most terrifying. Diseases that affect thinking, moving and feeling are a triple threat – making Huntington’s disease a triple whammy! Curing Huntington’s disease will unlock other brain diseases, like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease and others.
